Czech School Perth Enters Its 17th School Year

On Saturday morning, 14 December 2026, the classrooms of Wembley Downs Primary School once again filled with Czech language, children’s laughter and eager anticipation. Czech School Perth, which has been operating in Perth since 2009, officially opened its seventeenth school year – reaffirming its role as one of the most important pillars of Czech community life in Perth.

A Beginning with a Song That Connects Generations

The first school Saturday was opened by children and teachers singing together the very well-known song “Když jsem já sloužil”. This classic, known in almost every Czech household, created a warm atmosphere and reminded everyone why the school exists – to keep our roots, language, and traditions alive, even on the other side of the world.

A Place Where Czech Grows with the Children

Czech School Perth offers classes for children from the age of three, and every Saturday morning it transforms into a small island of the Czech language in the middle of Australian reality. Teaching is carried out using modern methods by a team of qualified and enthusiastic teachers, with emphasis not only on language, but also on traditions, customs, and cultural awareness.

The children don’t just learn vocabulary and grammar – they learn to understand where their parents or grandparents come from, and they build a connection to a country many of them know only from holiday visits.

A School at the Heart of the Community

In addition to regular classes, the school also offers themed workshops, cultural performances, and other events that bring families together and strengthen community life. Czech school Perth serves as a place for meeting, sharing, and mutual support.

Seventeen Years of Work That Truly Matters

Over the past seventeen years, dozens of children have passed through the school. Many of them now speak Czech fluently, read, write, and continue studying the language even after leaving the school. Parents appreciate not only the quality of teaching, but also the fact that their children gain something that is difficult to pass on at home – a sense of belonging to Czech culture.
